Can I get a disease from buddy breathing?

Sharing any type of equipment carries the risk of potential disease transmission.  Using your buddy’s spare regulator when buddy breathing minimizes the risk of contracting a disease compared to sharing your buddy’s regulator.  It is important to realize that the risk of contracting a disease in this manner is extremely low and that performing buddy breathing is a critical life saving technique.
