There are different ways for marine worms to catch their prey. Many marine worms are filter feeders, which mean that they filter water through their bodies and remove the tiny life forms that are in the water, such as plankton, small fish, plant pieces, and other debris. Other marine worms eat plant and animal pieces they find in the mud. Other species of marine worms are predatory and actively hunt and eat shrimp, sea urchins, and fish. Still other types of marine worms are parasites and live off their host.
