How many species of echinoderms are there?

There are five main groups or classes of echinoderms that include animals such as starfish, sea urchins, sand dollars, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, feather stars, and sea lilies.  There are a total of about 7,000 species of echinoderms living in the oceans today.
