What do elasmobranchs eat?

Elasmobranches are carnivores and almost all of them are predatory feeders.  Most sharks and rays eat bony fish of some sort as well as crustaceans and a variety of other creatures.  There are a few species of sharks, such as the great white, tiger, bull and ocean white tip, that eat small mammals such as seals.  They also enjoy feeding on whale carcasses and other large prey.  Of the sharks, the tiger shark has the greatest variety in its diet and will eat pretty much anything it can find.  There are a mere 13 species of sharks and rays that are filter feeders, eating plankton, small fish, fish eggs, worms, and a variety of other small creatures.
