Nitrox is any mixture of gas that is primarily nitrogen and oxygen, with only trace amounts of any other gases. Air is considered Nitrox, with 78.05% nitrogen + 20.95% oxygen + 1% trace gases. In general, divers use a hyperoxic mix, which means that it contains more than 21% oxygen, and this is generally termed enriched air, enriched air Nitrox (EAN or EANx), or SafeAir (oxygen mix of 22% to 50%).
