Shipwrecks and Technology is West Michigan’s only dive and travel show, and it’s the region’s only underwater film festival. This one-day event is fun for all divers as well as for anyone with an interest in underwater archaeology.
Location
For 2013, Shipwrecks and Technology has a new location. It will be held at the Spring Lake Holiday Inn at 940 West Savidge Street in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Dates
While many dive shows and conferences are held over the course of a weekend or even last for several days, Shipwrecks and Technology lasts just a single day. This year, it’s being held on Saturday, October 19th.
Conference Highlights
Workshops and presentations covering various shipwrecks and many aspects of wreck diving in the Great Lakes will be held throughout the day. Fun activities including underwater pumpkin carving are also a big part of this conference. If you want to participate in the pumpkin carving contest, you will need to bring your own pumpkin.
A number of exhibitors will be on hand with displays including new dive toys for you to see, plus special deals on travel to places much, much warmer than Michigan! Authors are on hand with dive-related books, and dive shops will also be attending.
Each year, a photo contest gives participants a chance to show off their best shots. The 2013 Shipwrecks & Technology photo contest doubles as a fundraiser for the West Michigan Underwater Preserve. Submissions will be accepted between September 1st and October 5th, with prizes for photos in the following categories:
- Shipwrecks
- People
- Underwater
- Landscapes
- Animals
