Do I need a passport to visit Belize?  Yes! All foreign nationals need a passport to enter Belize; citizens of certain countries also require a visa. Please check with your local authorities and secure the necessary documents before your trip.

Is Belize safe?  Yes! Belize is a safe country, but you should exercise the same caution used when traveling to any other destination. Do not walk alone at night, carry large amounts of cash, or wear flashy jewlery. A little common sense can go along way; if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

What should I bring with me to Belize?  Some items you should consider bringing with you to Belize include: sunscreen, insect repellent, baby oil, toiletries, prescriptions, c-card, insurance cards, cash, and credit cards.

Where is Hamanasi located? Hamanasi is situated on the Belize mainland beach, north of Placencia and south of Dangriga, approximately one mile south of the village of Hopkins. 

What Language is spoken in Belize? Although the official language of Belize is English, local people speak Creole, Garifuna, Spanish, Mopan Myan, and Ketchi Mayan. 

What kind of nightlife is available? Hamanasi has a bar that specializes in a variety of tropical drinks and other beverages, and Garifuna dancers and drummers occasionally perform on the veranda. In Hopkins, you’ll find a few restaurants, along with bars equipped with pool tables and TVs. 

Are there phones and TVs in the rooms? Hamanasi is a place to get away from it all. The resort has numerous amenities including air conditioning in all rooms, however there are no TVs or phones in guest rooms. Telephones and an internet connection are available at the front desk. 

Does Hamanasi have a tipping policy? Most service charges are included, however bar service and meals not included in the travel package do not include built-in gratuity charges. Tipping is customary, though it is at your discretion. Standard tips are between 10 and 15 percent.

Can I dive if I am not a certified Diver? Hamanasi offers Discover Scuba and Open Water diving courses, making it possible for non-divers to learn to dive on site. All divers must bring certification cards. 

Do I need any vaccinations before visiting Belize? As always, check with your doctor. We do recommend that you have an updated tetanus/diphtheria vaccine, however the majority of visitors to Belize do not get special vaccinations.

Can I drink the water at Hamanasi? While the tap water is technically safe to drink, bottled water is provided in all rooms, on all tours, and in the restaurant. All ice, salads, and other uncooked menu items are safe. 

What kind of electric outlets are provided? Outlets are the same as those in the USA, with 110 voltage. 

What is the currency rate of exchange, and how can I change money? Belize’s dollar exchange rate is approximately USD $1 to BZ $2. Belize’s banks change money, and hotels are typically able to change money in smaller amounts. Even so, US dollars are widely accepted, as long as they are in denominations of $20 or less; US coins are not accepted. Hamanasi accepts travelers checks in US dollars, but personal checks are not accepted.  Hamanasi does accept MasterCard and Visa; American Express is not accepted.
