How big are elasmobranchs?

Sharks can range in size from the pygmy shark, which is the smallest at 25 cm (10 inches), to the whale shark, which at 13 m (45 feet) long is the biggest fish in the world.  Rays range in size from the short-nose electric ray at 10 cm (4 inches) to the huge manta ray that can reach the size of 9 m (30 feet) in width.  Skates are slightly smaller than rays and range in size from the starry skate at 76 cm (30 inches) to the common skate at 2.5 m (8 feet).
