When
The Malaysian International Dive Expo takes place toward the beginning of July each year, just as water temperatures begin to climb toward the mid-80s. While it can rain at any time during the year, July is not considered part of the monsoon season – that actually happens between September and December. The expo is usually scheduled for a Friday, a Saturday, and a Sunday, giving attendees plenty of time to enjoy themselves between seminars.
Where
This event takes place at the beautifully designed Putra World Trade Center, which is located at 41 Jalan Tun Ismail in Kuala Lumpur. The trade center is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur near the Golden Triangle, and is about 45 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. You can take the KL monorail or one of the many Kulala Lumpur commuter trains to the trade center; stops are within easy walking distance.

Since the Malaysian International Dive Expo got its start in 2006, scuba gear and accessory manufacturers have been offering outstanding displays, showcasing innovative new products, and even providing some special offers to visitors. As the show expands annually, the number of exhibitors increases too; now, you’ll find little-known companies alongside big names like Mares, Oceanic, Aqualung, and others.

Some to look for include Reef Check Malaysia, Project AWARE, and the Hawksbill Release Programme Sipidan. These conservation groups and others are fully dedicated to keeping Malaysia’s marine habitats sustainable, and to providing education to visitors as well as to the thousands of Malaysians who become certified divers each year.
